Amending responsibilities for certain costs under the Kansas sexually violent predator act.

Jenna Moyer briefed the Committee on the bill saying that it amends the statute to provide that certain costs incurred related to individuals considered sexually violent predators may be reimbursed to the counties.
Proponents:
Sandy Horton shared his support (Attachment 12) for SB 150 saying that only a small number of individuals have funds available to pay for their medical costs while incarcerated in the county jail, which leaves the county responsible for those medical costs. He concluded by asking for the Committee's help, saying that if a person is unable to pay for medical expenses themselves that reimbursement can be sought through the law.
Nathan Eberline shared his support (Attachment 13) for the bill saying that he would echo Mr. Horton's comments. He added that that the funding structure is odd, and falls then on the counties to manage. This legislation would allow them to regain the funds that it takes.
