Chairperson Barker opened the hearing on HB2042. Jason Long, Office of Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill (Attachment 1). Questions were asked by Representatives Ruiz, Wilson, Williams, Highland, Miller, and Smith.
Chairperson Barker recognized C. W. Klebe, Assistant Attorney General, who provided testimony in support of HB2042 (Attachment 2). Questions were directed to the proponent by Chairperson Barker and Representatives Williams, Rooker, Whitmer, and Wilson.
Chairperson Barker asked if there were any further proponents. Seeing none, he recognized Jay Atkin who testified in opposition to HB2042 (Attachment 3).
Chairperson Barker directed the Committee's attention to the written opponent testimony of Katy Tyndell of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (Attachment 4).
Chairperson Barker closed the hearing on HB2042.
