Chairperson Bowers opened the hearing on SB78. Mike Heim, staff revisor, presented a briefing on the bill.
Senator Faust-Goudeau testified in support of SB78. Senator Faust-Goudeau's testimony stated that she is asking notification to be sent to voters 30 days prior to an election and a sign be posted on former polling locations stating the new locations. (Attachment 1)
After questions from the Committee were addressed, the hearing continued.
Ann Mah testified in support of SB78 indicating that we should do anything we can to increase voter turnout and help reduce confusion at the polls. Ms. Mah responded to questions from the Committee. (Attachment 2)
Bryan Caskey testified in support of SB78. Mr. Caskey addressed a few items that had been brought up during the hearing. Mr. Caskey stated that he believes notifications are provided in almost every circumstance where a polling place is moved; although there is no legal requirement that it must be done. (Attachment 3)
