Chairperson Aurand opened the hearing on HB2212.
Zack Fridell, Office of the Revisor of Statues, gave an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)
Dr. Thomas Burke testified in support of the bill. He stated he has worked in technical education since 1986, and when the Technical Education Authority (TEA) was first introduced he was against it but over 30 years he has come to strongly support it. The TEA assures technical skill standards across the state. He strongly advises the Committee to support the legislation. (Attachment 2)
Greg Nichols spoke in support of the legislation. He stated that the TEA supports technical education that changes lives, especially for the present generation that is seeking to find a place in today's complex world. (Attachment 3)
Written testimony in support of the bill was submitted by the State Board of Education. (Attachment 4)
There was a brief discussion, and the Chairperson thanked the conferees for their time and testimony. Chairperson Aurand closed the hearing on HB2212.
