The Chairperson opened the hearing on SB 76.
Eric Stafford stated that SB 76 will protect the thousands of licensed professionals in the state by preventing local governments from adding additional rules and fees. Most professions are governed at the state level by agencies which charge fees to fund the agency. Allowing local units of government to add additional fees and requirements creates an additional level of regulation and unnecessary cost to Kansas businesses.(Attachment 1)
Sandra Kimmons supports SB 76 because the bill waives all occupational fees and fees from licensing requirements for low-income individuals.(Attachment 2)
Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau supports SB 76 because it reduces fees to an affordable level.(Attachment 3)
