Chairperson Campbell opened the hearing on HB 2143 and called upon Jason Long to give an overview of the bill. Jason Long, Senior Assistant Revisor, summarized HB2143 which requires school districts to procure specific spend categories through the Department of Education.(Attachment 1) Questions were asked by Representatives Rooker and Trimmer.
Sarah Shipman, Secretary, Department of Administration, addressed the Committee as a proponent.(Attachment 2) Questions were asked by Representatives Rooker, Helgerson, Vickrey, Trimmer, Winn, and Schwab.
Another proponent, Dave Trabert, Kansas Policy Institute, gave testimony on this bill.(Attachment 3) Mr. Trabert answered a question for Representative Schwab.
