Chair Hoffman opened the hearing on HB2193 at 4:15pm.
Kyle Hamilton, Assistant Revisor, Office of The Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of HB2193 and the statutes that it affects. (Attachment 6) There is a Fiscal Note for HB2193.
Christopher Tymeson, Chief Legal Counsel, Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism, appeared before the Committee in support of HB2193. This bill would require all persons born on or after January 1, 1997, to possess a certification of completion of a boating safety course. This is to address the trend of escalating boating-related accidents, fatalities and property damage. The course is internet-based and will be provided free-of-charge by KDWPT. (Attachment 7)
