An overview was given by Scott Abbot, Kansas Revisor of Statues. Questions were then asked by members and answered by Mr. Abbot.
Proponents:
Kari Rinker, National MS Society, spoke to the committee as a proponent to SB 69. (Attachment 2) Additionally, she offered some suggestions to make the legislation better. She responded to committee questions.
Chad Austin, Kansas Hospital Association, offered testimony in support of SB 69. (Attachment 3) Mr. Austin introduced Bob Finuf, Vice President Children's Mercy in Kansas City, KHA KanCare committee member, also spoke to the committee regarding SB 69.
Dr. Sam Antonios, Via Christi Health, spoke to the committee regarding SB 69. (Attachment 4) Dr. Antonios responded to committee questions.
Andy Copeland, ARJ Infusion Services, offered testimony in support of SB 69. (Attachment 5) They included some suggestions for amendments. Mr. Copeland responded to committee questions.
Sean Gatewood KanCare Advocate Network spoke to the committee as a proponent to SB 69. (Attachment 6) Mr. Gatewood responded to questions posed by the committee.
Chairperson Schmidt noted that the hearing would continue February 2, 2017 with the remainder of the proponents as well as the opponents.
The hearing on SB 69 was suspended.
The next meeting is scheduled for February 1, 2017.
