Natalie Scott gave an overview of HB2089.
Scott Schultz, Executive Director, on behalf of the Kansas Sentencing Commission testified in support of HB2089. Executive Director Schultz stated this bill is one of nine proposals the 17-member Commission considered and now recommends to the Committee for their support this session. (Attachment 6)
The Committee had questions for Executive Director Schultz.
Written only testimony from Elizabeth Gillespie on behalf of the Johnson County Department of Corrections in support of HB2089. (Attachment 7)
Ed Klumpp on behalf of the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, Kansas Sheriffs Association, and Kansas Peace Officers Association testified in opposition of HB2089 because this proposal releases those a court has determined need more monitoring than routine parole, probation, or pretrial supervision. (Attachment 8)
The Committee had questions for Mr. Klumpp.
