Chairperson Longbine opened the hearing on SB21. Eileen Ma gave an overview of the bill and stood for questions; there were none.
Judi Stork presented testimony supporting the passage of this bill. She explained the provisions, which she stated amends the Kansas Money Transmitter Act in three different statutes. (Attachment 5) Ms. Stork requested an amendment to SB21 that would create a new section to K.S.A. 9-508 that defines "service provider," and restores the language as it was originally introduced. Ms. Stork responded to questions from Senators Suellentrop and Pyle. There being no further questions and no other conferees or written-only testimony submitted, the Chairperson closed the hearing on SB21.
The meeting adjourned at 10:10 am. The next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, January 25, 2017.
