Natalie Scott, Revisor's Office, provided an overview of the bill and stood for questions. (Attachment 1)
Susan Humphries, Kansas House of Representatives, District 99, testified in favor of the bill. She said this bill came from the Joint Committee on Special Claims Against the state. She said the claims are seeking compensation or damages for alleged loss from individuals who are housed at the state corrections institutions.. This bill amends the statute to increase the amount that the Department of Corrections may pay for a claim from $500 to $750. (Attachment 2)
