Minutes Content for Wed, Mar 5, 2025
Chairman Petersen opened the hearing on HB2030.
Mr. Siebers explained that the bill excludes dealers and manufacturers of trailers from certain provisions of the vehicle dealers and manufacturers licensing act; the bill would apply to dealers and manufacturers of semitrailers and travel trailers. He cited the provisions of specific statutes addressed in the bill (Attachment 4).
Via Web-ex, Pramod Raju, American Trailer World, testified in support of the bill (Attachment 5). He commented that the current law applies more to dealers and manufacturers of motor vehicles rather than trailers. He said that current statutes apply primarily to franchise dealers and manufacturers whereas most trailer companies are not involved in franchise relationships. He noted that two-thirds of states exempt trailers from similar licensing regulations. Responding to a question, he said the bill will facilitate flexibility for trailer dealers.
The Chair closed the hearing on HB2030.
