Jason Long, Revisor of Statutes,(Attachment 4) gave an overview of the bill. He explained this bill would grant the Shawnee county board commissioners the discretion to create a citizens commission on local government.
Ashley Biegert, Assistant Shawnee County Counselor(Attachment 5) was a proponent for the bill. She explained that this bill would allow for a more efficient, pragmatic approach to governance by maintaining the statute while making its application discretionary rather than obligatory.
