Minutes for SB36 - Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources

Short Title

Increasing the cap on the amount of moneys disbursed by the division of conservation to conservation districts and providing an increased matching basis for state moneys disbursed to conservation districts based on amounts allocated by the board of county commissioners for such districts.

Chairperson Rahjes opened the hearing on SB36 and called upon Revisor Kyle Hamilton, Office of Revisor of Statutes, to give the bill brief on SB36. (Attachment 1)

Research Analyst, Heather O'Hara, Legislative Research Department, reported on the fiscal note.

Appearing as an oral proponent on the bill was Dan Meyerhoff, Kansas Association of Conservation Districts. (Attachment 2)  He stood for questions.  Chairperson Rahjes thanked Mr. Meyerhoff for his testimony and answering questions.

There being no other testimony provided on this bill, Chairperson Rahjes closed the hearing on SB36.

Chairperson Rahjes thanked Representative Roeser for baking chocolate chip cookies that contained sorghum flour.  The sorghum flour was provided by Representative Minnix.  Chairperson Rahjes also thanked Representative Minnix for sharing the toddler snacks that contained sorghum.

The meeting adjourned at 3:56 p.m.
