Ms. Choi responded to questions from the committee.
Shawna Jordan, Government Affairs Chair, Kansas Athletic Trainers Society, provided testimony in support of SB175 (Attachment 1). The bill reflects the changes in the athletic training education preparation for obtaining the national certificate. The bill also allows athletic trainers from other states to practice in Kansas when traveling with their teams and organizations for competition. Athletic trainers are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize the activity and participation of patients and clients. The updates proposed reflect the modernization of the profession of athletic trainers, as well as the changes in the education requirements for athletic training accredited programs.
