Chair Humphries opened the meeting with the hearing on SB84.

The Chair recognized Representative Osman on a point of personal privilege.  He introduced Samantha Reich from Overland Park, Kansas, an 8th grader who attends Pembroke Hill Middle School, who is job shadowing him today.

The Chair introduced Representative Sutton, filling in for Representative Williams today.

Jason Thompson, Office of Revisor of Statutes, gave the bill brief.  (Attachment 1)

Proponent William Wilk, Kansas Chamber of Commerce, also representing the Chamber as the state affiliate for the National Retail Federation and on behalf of the Kansas Retail Council testified that businesses across the state are reporting more cases of gift card fraud. These businesses are advocating for policies to improve the economic climate in Kansas. Attached to his testimony is a presentation on Gift Card Fraud from the Council of State Retail Associations..  (Attachment 2)

Mr. Wilk stood for questions.
