The Chairman opened the hearing on HB2372.
Mike Heim, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, gave a briefing(Attachment14) on HB2372 regarding designating the existing fallen firefighters memorial within the Kansas firefighters museum in Wichita as the official fallen firefighters memorial of the state of Kansas and replacing the Kansas firefighters memorial advisory committee with the Kansas firefighter memorial council.
Mark Engholm testified as a (Attachment15)neutral on HB2372 and spoke to a streamlined approach to recognize the Kansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Wichita as the official state memorial, transfer the collected funds from the memorial fund to the City of Wichita for maintenance and enhancements.
The Chairman referred the committee to review the Written Only testimony provided by:
- Ted Bush, (Attachment16) testified in strong support of honoring our firefighters.
- Mike Hoheisel, testified in support(Attachment17) and invited the committee to attend the memorial this year to honor the fallen firefighters.
The Chairman closed the hearing on HB2372.
