Authorizing children in the custody of the secretary of the department for children and families to attend school in any school district, requiring records for such students to be timely transferred between school districts and requiring a transportation plan if the child remains in the school of origin.

Nick Meyers, Reviser of Statutes Office, provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)
Angela Hedrick gave proponent testimony to the value, for the children and the system, of being able to place a foster child in a local school system so they can maintain their education in a new placement. (Attachment 2)
Leah Fliter, provided neutral testimony making a short statement about this bill being a duplication of federal law. (Attachment 3)
Kristalle Hedrick, Children's Alliance, gave proponent testimony about the mental health problems that come with a placement and not being able to attend school because of missing records. (Attachment 4)
