Short Title
Enacting the longitudinal data act, establishing the division of longitudinal data in the legislative research department, authorizing the appointment of a director of the division by the legislative coordinating council and providing for the development and management of the Kansas longitudinal data system for the purpose of tracking and analyzing education, workforce and related data.

Chairperson Jason Goetz opened the hearing on HB2303 and invited Nick Meyers, Office of the Reviser to provide an overview of the statutes related to HB2303. (Attachment 1) (Attachment 2)
Eric Syverson, Director of Policy and Research, Aligned, testified as a proponent of the bill. He gave a detailed presentation on the importance of The State Longitudinal Data System. (Attachment 3) (Attachment 4)
William Wilk, Senior Director of Government Affairs, The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce/Civil Council, gave supportive testimony for The State Longitudinal Data System. (Attachment 5)
The Chair invited Dr. Frank Harwood, Deputy Commissioner of Fiscal and Administrative Services, Kansas State Board of Education, to help answer questions about how the system will improve the movement of data between entities in Kansas. How it can follow a student as they matriculate through school, and their progress toward and through college, tech school and the workforce.
