Chair Humphries opened the Hearing on HB2212. Jason Thompson, Office of Revisor of Statutes, presented the bill brief. (Attachment 1)
Representative Susan Humphries, Chair of Special Claims Against the State Committee testified in support of the bill. This bill increases the reimbursement amount of money the Secretary of Corrections is allowed to make to inmates for losses. The current maximum reimbursement is $500 and this bill would increase the maximum to $750. The claim amount of $500 has not been updated for several years. This bill also requires notice to the Secretary of Corrections for claims exceeding the reimbursement maximum. (Attachment 2)
