Chairperson Dietrich opened the hearing on SB 139. Revisor Eileen Ma briefed the Committee on the bill and stood for questions. (Attachment 1)
Brock Roehler on behalf of the Office of the State Bank Commissioner testified before the Committee as a proponent. (Attachment 2) He summarized the main components of the bill which would affect how trust companies operate in Kansas. It also makes other minor changes and updating statutory citations. He stood for questions from the Committee.
Kelly VanZwoll of the Kansas Bankers Association spoke in favor of the bill. Their members support streamlining banking statutes and getting them up to date. (Attachment 3) They plan to request a friendly amendment to the bill but not at this time.
Chairperson Dietrich closed the hearing on SB 139.
