Chairperson Rahjes opened the hearing on HB2095 and requested Revisor Kyle Hamilton, Office of Revisor of Statutes, to give the bill brief. (Attachment 3)
Research Analyst, Heather O'Hara, was asked to give a review of the fiscal note.
Presenting Oral Proponent testimony were the following:
Tom Stiles, Director of the Bureau of Water, Kansas Department of Health and Environment (Attachment 4)
Jerad Stroot, Board of Directors, Kansas Groundwater Association and Water Well Contractor, Premier Pump & Well Service (Attachment 5)
Tony Wedel, General Manager, Hydro Resources and Past President of the Kansas Groundwater Association (Attachment 6)
Dallas Alexander, Owner Operator of Alexander Pump and Service (Attachment 7)
All conferees stood for questions and Chairperson Rahjes thanked them for presenting their testimony.
There was no additional testimony provided on this bill and Chairperson Rahjes closed the hearing on HB2095.
Chairperson Rahjes requested a motion to approve the minutes of January 14, 16, 21 and 22.
Representative Roeser moved, seconded by Representative Mosley, to approve the minutes of January 14, 16, 21 and 22. Motion carried.
Chairperson Rahjes expressed happy birthday wishes to Representative Neelly and thanked him for treating the Committee members to cup cakes.
Representative Roeser was thanked by Chairperson Rahjes for bringing jalapeno cheese bread to the Committee meeting.
Chairperson Rahjes indicated if the Legislature is closed tomorrow due to significantly cold weather conditions, the bill hearings scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025, will be moved to Thursday, February 13, 2025.
There being no further business to be brought before the Committee, at 4:57 p.m., Chairperson Rahjes adjourned the meeting.
The next meeting of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources meeting is scheduled for February 12, 2025.
