Chairman Kessler opened the hearing on HB2094.
Mike Heim gave a briefing (Attachment1)of the amendment which would allow sales of electronic cigarettes in vending machines. He stood for questions.
Sara Prem, of the American Lung Association in Kansas gave testimony(Attachment2) in opposition. She advised that not having tobacco vending machines would be a good tool in preventing youth. The biggest concern was the impact of Nicotine on a developing brain.
Eric Kueser, I Accept That, LLC. gave testimony (Attachment3) in support for adding electronic cigarettes to vending machine sales.
Chairman Kessler referred the committee to review the written only testimonies.
Kasey Skidmore, Department of Revenue provided written neutral testimony(Attachment4).
Kari Rinker, from a Tobacco Free Kansas Coalition provided written opponent testimony(Attachment5).
Megan Wood of the American Cancer Society, Cancer Action Network, (ACS CAN) provided testimony in opposition(Attachment6).
The hearing on HB2094 was closed.
The Chairman adjourned the meeting at 9:53 am.
