Keith Bradshaw from the Kansas Department of Corrections testified in support of the bill. This bill would abolish the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Treatment Fund within Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC), re-establish the fund within the Kansas Department on Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), and transfer any balance in the KDOC fund, as of July 1, 2025, to the KDADS fund. HB2221 would also amend current statute to direct revenues previously credited to the KDOC fund to the KDADS fund. (Attachment 2) Stood for questions.
Drew Adkins from Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services testified in support of bill which aims to create the Kansas department for aging and disability services alcohol and drug abuse treatment fund, transferring moneys and liabilities of the department of corrections alcohol and drug abuse treatment fund to the Kansas department for aging and disability services alcohol and drug abuse treatment fund, and abolishing the department of correction alcohol and drug abuse treatment fund.
