Keith Bradshaw from the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) is supportive of bill. During the 2021 Session, the Legislature passed HB2401, which allows the Secretary of Corrections to enter into public-private partnerships for the purpose of financing and constructing an education and workforce training center which would provide a broad range of adult education, career and technical education, college degree, and career-readiness programs. This career campus would be sited at the Lansing Correctional Facility. Under current statute, the amount of state funding which may be committed to the construction of a career campus is capped at 25% of the total cost. (Attachment 5) He stood for questions.
