Chairperson Proctor closed the hearing on HB2023.

Final Action on Bills Previously Heard:

Chairperson Proctor opened the hearing on HB2057 which pertains to requiring the governor to appointment persons to fill vacancies in the offices of United States senator, state treasurer and the commissioner of insurance from a list of names approved by the legislature.

Representative Carpenter requested amendment that would add a severability clause to the legislation. (Attachment 29)

Chairperson Proctor opened discussion on proposed amendment for HB2057.

Representative Carpenter moved, seconded by Representative Penn to amend the bill . Motion carried.

Representative Carpenter requested amendment that would update the bill to consider narrowing the time limit as to how long somebody is part of that party. (Attachment 30)

Representative Carpenter moved, seconded by Representative Miller to amend the bill. Motion carried.

Representative Carpenter requested amendment that would have Secretary of States Office certifying the appointments. (Attachment 31)

Representative Carpenter moved, seconded by Representative Penn to amend the bill. Motion carried.

Representative Penn moved, seconded by Representative Waggoner to recommend HB2057 favorably for passage as amended. Motion carried.
