Chairwoman Warren opened the hearing on SB135.
Natalie Scott, Revisor's Office, provided an overview of the bill and stood for questions, (Attachment 2)
Ronald Nelson, Member of the Judicial Council's Family Law Advisory Committee, recommends the passage of SB135. He stated this bill clarifies the statute that sets out which types of child-related orders control when a child-related order is issued in a protection from abuse (PDA) case and in a different type of case. The recommendation he presented is to make the bill easier to read and understand. (Attachment 3)
Michelle McCormick, Executive Director, Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, (KCSDV). KCSDV supports SB135 A clear and consistent understanding of this law creates a better opportunity for victims and survivors to be represented and know about the legal structures that have an impact on them and their children. (Attachment 4)
