Minutes for HB2110 - Committee on Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications

Short Title

Eliminating the requirement that the state 911 board shall contract with a local collection point administrator for services, rescheduling the date on which the state 911 operations fund, state 911 grant fund and state 911 fund shall be established, requiring certain transfers to be made to the state 911 operations fund and rescheduling the date for transferring all 911 fee moneys currently held outside the state treasury to the state treasury.

Chairman Delperdang opened the hearing on HB2110.

Nick Myers, Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment2) Mr. Myers responded to questions from committee members.

Chairman recognized Sherry Massey, Kansas 911 Coordinating Council as a proponent, in person testimony. (Attachment3)

Ms. Massey explained the bill would be intended to facilitate the State 911 Board's transition to a state agency and provide more flexible grant funding for the public safety answering points.

A period of question and answers from the committee followed.
