Amending the definition of land devoted to agricultural use for property tax purposes to include trail rides as a ranching activity to qualify as an agritourism activity.

The Chair opened the Hearing on HB2035 by asking Revisor Charles Reimer to give a briefing on the bill.  He indicated that HB2035 the Agritoursim statue to including train rides as an agritorism activity which would have an impact to the taxes on the property.  He stood for questions.

Representative Proctor gave proponent testimony and stood for questions.(Attachment 1)  Tanya Thais, owner of a farm near Leavenworth county which includes providing trail rides.  The bill is in response to the attempts by the taxing authority in Leavenworth Kansas to say the land was a business rather than agriculture and would have increased taxes significantly.  She stood for questions.
