Chairperson Dietrich opened the hearing on SB 27. Revisor Eileen Ma briefed the Committee on the bill. (Attachment 4)
Eric Turek of the Kansas Department of Insurance testified in favor of the bill. (Attachment 5) This bill amends the statute pertaining to certain language for defining a person. Changing the language to "any other legal entity under the jurisdiction of the commissioner" simplifies statute language and prevents unnecessary appearances before the Legislature. The bill would also eliminate the requirement for two reports to the governor which are now outdated and unnecessary.
Mr. Turek answered questions from the Committee.
