The hearing on HB2049 was opened by the Chair.  Assistant Revisor, Ma, presented an overview of the bill and stood for questions. (Attachment 8) Eric Turek, Director of Government Affairs, Kansas Department of Insurance gave testimony in favor of the bill and stood for questions; disclosed the current balance of the insurance fee fund to be approximately $71 million. (Attachment 9) Committee members expressed appreciation for the insurance departments successful efforts to lower fees for insurers.    Graig Sepich, Director of Office of Strategy, Policy, and Government Affairs with the National Insurance Crime Bureau gave strong, written only support of the bill; reiterating contractor fraud remains a problem across the country; concluding that this bill would ensure that any person whose license as a public adjuster has been suspended, revoked, denied in another state may not be employed by an insurance company in the state of Kansas.(Attachment 10) The conferee stood for questions.   There were no neutrals or opponents present.
