Chairperson Smith opened the hearing for HB2004.
Adam Siebers, Revisor of Statutes provided an overview for HB2004 that provides a countywide retailer's sales tax authority for Seward County (Attachment 2).
Mr. Siebers stood for questions from Committee members.
Proponents:
April Warden, Seward County Administrator, testified as a proponent for HB2004 requesting a half cent sales tax to help with the needs the County has identified in roads and bridges. HB2004 would allow Seward County residents the opportunity to vote for a half cent sales tax to help with the cost of repairing, maintaining and sustaining roadways in Seward County (Attachment 3).

Scott Carr, Seward County Commissioner, testified as a proponent for HB2004 requesting a half cent sales tax for roads and bridges in Seward County. Seward County's main drivers requested this due to an increase in truck traffic. The dairy expansions, feeder operations, and ethanol plant contribute to the high volume in truck traffic (Attachment 4).
