About the Secretary of the Senate
The Secretary of the Senate is appointed by the Senate President and serves in a non-partisan capacity, responsible for preparing the Senate Calendar and Journal, processing legislation, operating the voting system, and maintaining official Senate records.
Corey Carnahan was appointed Secretary of the Senate in August 2013. Prior to his work in the Secretary of the Senate’s office, Corey worked in the Legislative Research Department as a Principal Analyst. During the 2012 Session, he was lead Research Department staff on the Senate Committee on Reapportionment and the House Committee on Redistricting.
Corey graduated with degrees in political science from Wayne State College and the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
