Dahnika Short, Revisor's Office, provided an overview of the bill and stood for questions. (Attachment 3)

Marc Bennett, District Attorney, Eighteenth Judicial District, provided support of the bill.  He stated whether through incapacitation, deterrence, or reformation, hopefully giving repeat offenders more appropriate sentences will prevent adding another name to the list of DUI victim's families.   (Attachment 4)

Sheriff Jeff Easter, Sedgwick Co, Ks Sheriffs Assoc.; Ks Assoc of Chiefs of Police, provided testimony in support of the bill.  He stated if this defendant had been arrested by the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office for the prior DUI's the case would have been charged in district court.  Thus, those cases would have been counted in his criminal history simply because the convictions were in district court and not in municipal court.  (Attachment 5)

Jerry Carter, Private Citizen, provided testimony in support of the bill.  He is asking for this bill to be passed, so other families can receive justice that due to current policy, they do not. (Attachment 6)
