Chairperson Smith opened the hearing for HB2570.

Adam Siebers gave an overview for HB2570 that provides for a sales tax exemption of all sales of tangible personal property or services purchased by O'Connell Children's Shelter, Inc.  (Attachment 16) 

Mr. Siebers stood for question from Committee members.

Kathleen Smith, Kansas Department of Revenue, provided an overview of the fiscal note for HB2570 that would decrease state revenues by $32,500 in FY2027.  Of the total, the State General Fund revenue would be estimated to decrease by $26,700 and the State Highway Fund is estimated to decrease by $5,800.  The Department understands that the organization has a three- year project with combined expenditure of around $1.5 million.  She noted If the project was distributed evenly over a 3-year period, FY28 and FY29 would see the same impact.
