Chairperson Gossage opened the hearing on HB2520. Dahnika Short briefed the committee on the bill. (Attachment1)

Chairperson Gossage introduced Representative Mark Schreiber, 60th District, who spoke in favor of the bill. (Attachment2) Representative Schreiber testified that increasing the number of a home plus facility by four residents can allow a home plus facility to be built and increase cash flow, while still maintaining the home-like setting. He encouraged the committee to support the bill.

Representative Schreiber stood for questions from the committee.

Chairperson Gossage introduced Haely Ordoyne who spoke in opposition to the bill. (Attachment6) She testified that staffing ratios would increase with capacity as well as patient safety. The Long-Term Care Ombudsman stands in opposition to this bill without necessary safeguards and parameters put in place.

Ms. Ordoyne stood for questions from the committee.
