Representative Bergquist opened the hearing on SB396.

Jason Long, Revisor of Statutes (Attachment 1) gave an overview of the bill. He explained that the bill would authorize the reorganization of the Clearwater Cemetery District.

Dave Loos, Ohio Township (Attachment 2) testified as a proponent to the bill.  He explained that the bill allows the Ohio Township to exit the district while preserving the protecting the Clearwater Cemetery District and the families whose loved ones are buried there.

Burt Ussery, Mayor, City of Clearwater (Attachment 3 testified as proponent to the bill. He explained that the Ohio Township provides approximately 27% of the tax base for the district, there is one cemetery in the Ohio Township, and it accounts for only 2% of the annual cost to maintain. That cemetery, Noel, is owned by the city of Clearwater.
