Frank Harwood, Deputy Commissioner of Fiscal and Administrative Services, Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE), explained the reporting system KSDE uses to provide financial information to agencies and the Legislature. They have been very responsive and has provided the information in a timely fashion. Additionally, reports that are required by statute are rarely reviewed or repealed. In many cases, the information required by the statute does not answer the questions originally being asked. By just asking for the information, there can be a dialogue about what the actual questions are which can result in information that is more useful. (Attachment 12)
