Chairman Peck opened the hearing on HB2505.

Tamera Lawrence, Senior Assistant Revisor, Office of the Revisor of Statutes provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)

Representative Will Carpenter spoke in favor of the bill. (Attachment 2) This bill is to protect private property rights.

Representative Carpenter stood for questions.

Kurtis Wiard, Chief Counsel, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks presented testimony in support of the bill. (Attachment 3) The Deparment routinely collects critical information about protected species through research, monitoring and surveys. The bill would help the department to collect critical information about species while also protecting private property interests by allowing the Department to close any precise locations data.

Mr. Wiard stood for questions.
