Chairman Bergquist opened the hearing on HB2622.
Jason Long, Revisor of Statutes (Attachment) 1 gave an overview of the bill. He explained that the bill would modify the protest petition requirements for municipal lease-purchase agreements.
Clayton Barker, Kansas Secretary of State (Attachment 2) testified as a proponent to the bill. He explained that changing the current formula with a requirement of signatures equal to 3% of the registered voters within the school district and for consistency, applying the same standard to other affected municipalities that this figure can be determined with certainty.
