Mollie Athon, Legislative Chair, Kansas Association of Court Services Officers, testified that HB2612 would clarify that the term of probation surpervision in cases with multiple felony convictions is controlled by the conviction with the longest probation duration in a case.  (Attachment 19)

Emily Brandt, Criminal Defense Attorney, testified that she opposes the bill because it is clearly about sentencing. This statute has been the same for 25 years, has been reviewed, and is working as-is. There is a concern about the proposed language amending subsection (a)(8), which would disadvantage defendants with multiple convictions.  (Attachment 21)
