Chairwoman Warren opened the hearing on  SB487.

Natalie Scott, Revisor's Office, provided an overview of the bill and stood for questions, (Attachment 11)

Sheriff Jeff Easter, Sedgwick County on behalf of KS Sheriff's Association, provided testimony in support of the bill.  He listed the issues and restrictions with the current system, and the positives of the state going to a new more technology robust system in his written testimony. (Attachment 12)

Bob Stuart, Executive Officer, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, testified in support of the bill.  He stated this bill will equip law enforcement with the tools needed to effectively manage offender registrations in the modern era, ultimately making Kansas safer for all residents. (Attachment 13)

Josh Harsin, Data & Statistical Evaluation Analyst, BIDS Legislative Committee, provided neutral testimony.  He provided three areas of concern that they brought forward for consideration.   (Attachment 14)

Chairwoman Warren closed the hearing on SB487. 

We do not have any bills ready to work for February 13th.  Meeting canceled for the 13th.  We will have bills to work on February 16th.
