Representative Bergquist opened the hearing on HB2539.
Jason Long, Revisor of Statutes (Attachment 1) gave an overview of the bill. He explained that the bill would require the adoption of a resolution providing for the election of board members for the Eudora Community Library District.
Zack Daniel, City Manager, City of Eudora (Attachment 2) testified as a proponent to the bill. He explained that the bill would correct language removing references to appointed positions and explicitly note a joint resolution between the various entities to allow for the election of Library District board members.
Eric Magette, Vice-President, Eudora Community Library Board (Attachment 3) testified as a proponent to the bill. He explained that this bill would replace the term "appointed" with "elected" in the statute, thereby requiring that members of the Eudora Community Public Library Board be elected rather than appointed.
The chairman asked if anyone else would like to speak as a proponent to the bill.
Representative Mike Amyx, District 45 testified as a proponent to the bill. No written testimony was provided.
Gene Dorsey, Douglas County Commissioner testified as a proponent to the bill. No written testimony was provided.
