Chris Waggoner, Assistant Revisor, Office of Revisor of Statutes, provided the committee with a briefing on the bill. (Attachment 1)

Representative Schmoe, District # 59, gave  verbal testimony in support of the bill that would honor and recognize the life and legacy of Franklin County Deputy Sheriff, Samuel Adam Smith.(Attachment 2)

 Jeffry Curry, former sheriff of Franklin County,  provided proponent testimony to the committee having lived in Franklin County, witnessed how Sam Smith  lived with integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity and moral courage.(Attachment 3)

Jeff Richards, Franklin County Sheriff, shared how Sam Smith's natural leadership ability demonstrated his commitment to help and to serve others.(Attachment 4)

Jesse Vega. Corporal, in the Franklin County Sheriff's office, gave oral testimony in recognition of Sam Smith as a servant to the community throughout his life.(Attachment 5)

Jerrod Fredericks recognized Sam Smith's ability to fulfill his duties from the single characteristic of compassion.(Attachment 6)

Katie Smith, Samuel's mother, gave testimony to the committee of how her son's life was filled with love and dedication for his family and friends.(Attachment 7)

Zachary Clayton, mayor Ottawa, Kansas,  gave testimony that naming the stretch of I - 35 in Franklin County, Kansas, ensures that Sam Smith's service is recognized and memorialized  reminding Kansans each day that the safety they enjoy is made possible by individuals like Sam willing to place themselves in harm's way on behalf of others.   (Attachment 8)
