Chairperson Dietrich called the meeting to order and opened the hearing on HB2333. Revisor Eileen Ma provided a summary of the bill and stood for questions from the Committee. (Attachment 1)

Steve Karrer from the Department of Insurance provided testimony in favor of the bill.(Attachment 2)  He stated that the bill would bring uniformity and clarity to current statutes where sometimes the Department of Insurance is referenced as the "Kansas Insurance Department" and in other statutes as the "Kansas Department of Insurance." The bill also brings alignment to terminology that was used when Securities and Insurance were separate agencies, better represents its personnel structure and removes the need for confirmation by the Senate.
