Chairperson Longbine opened the meeting and greeted members, staff, and guests.  It was noted that Tamera Lawrence, Senior Assistant Revisor, Revisor of Statutes Office (ROS), attended the meeting virtually via Webex.  The Chairperson called for requests for bill introduction.  There were none.  He turned the members' attention to SB398 and opened the hearing.

Eileen Ma, Assistant Revisor, ROS, presented the Revisor's Memorandum brief on the bill.   (Attachment1)   There were no questions.

Eric Turek, Director of Government and Public Affairs, Kansas Insurance Department (KID) gave oral proponent testimony on this bill, which was requested by KID.  He said that SB398 would give the Commissioner authority and discretion to set fees, publish them in the Kansas Register, and replicate that authority in an additional 25 statutes as listed in the Revisor's brief.    (Attachment 2)   There were no questions for Mr. Turek.

 

There being no other proponent, opponent, or neutral testimony submitted, Chairperson Longbine closed the hearing on SB398.
