Chairperson McGinn opened the hearing on SB 484. Scott Abbott provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)
Senator Mike Petersen spoke in support of the bill as it would allow the Secretary of the Department for Children and Families to request a waiver of SNAP time limits under exceptional circumstances. We need this waiver to support those laid off from the aviation industry but can also help others including foster children who are aging out. (Attachment 2)
Written only testimony in support of the bill was submitted by John Wilson, Kansas Action for Children. (Attachment 3)
