Jenna Moyer gave a brief on HB2469 explaining that it changes existing compassionate release law for terminally ill inmates whose death is imminent from 30 days to 120 days. (Attachment 1)

Scott Schultz, Kansas Sentencing Commission provided the prison bed impact assessment of HB2469. (Attachment 3)
Scott Schultz spoke in support of HB2469 explaining that the present 30 day time period is so short that by the time the recommendation and review process has been completed, the inmate may have already died. The review process takes several points into consideration, such as the public safety risk, not just the health situation of the inmate.(Attachment 4)
