Natalie Scott provided an overview of SB371. (Attachment 8) Ms. Scott stood for questions.
Jennifer Montgomery testified in support of the bill. (Attachment 9) Ms. Montgomery stated the National Human Trafficking Hotline (NHTH) has received hundreds of calls from Kansas in the past few years with regard to both sex and labor trafficking. The attorney general's office supports the bill making it mandatory to post signs with information about the NHTH and how to contact or utilize this organization.
Dr. Sharon Sullivan testified in support of the bill. (Attachment 10) Dr. Sullivan explained because of the NHTH they know that victims are in certain businesses and advertising the hotline increases the chances of victimized people calling in for help and citizen awareness and identification of the crime. Dr. Sullivan stood for questions.
