Minutes for HB2595 - Committee on Ways and Means
Short Title
Eliminating the 30-day delay before offering state surplus property for sale to the general public.
Minutes Content for Wed, Mar 4, 2020
Chairperson McGinn opened the hearing on HB 2595. Zach Fridell provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)
John Yeary spoke in support of the bill as it would increase administrative efficiency by eliminating the detailed tracking involved with surplus items. Each day as they get new surplus property they have to track each item for the 30 day waiting period and then move items off the list. They also have ways to notify agencies through email when there is surplus property that may be of particular interest. Mr. Yeary responded to questions from Committee members. (Attachment 2)
Cheryl Buxton, Director of Surplus Property, Department of Administration, responded to questions from Committee members.
There being no further conferees, Chairperson McGinn closed the hearing on HB 2595.
Senator Pettey moved, Senator Braun seconded, to recommend HB 2595 favorably for passage and that it be placed on the consent calendar. Motion carried.
